Does anyone know how to find out more about the Attleborough Sports Forum? I understand that they are doing stirling work in raising funding to improve our Sports and Leisure facilities. _________________ When you wish upon a falling star, your dreams can come true. Have never heard of the Attleborough sports Forum, but if they are fundraising for the Sports Facilities in town, then good luck to them.
If anyone finds a link for them, then perhaps they could put it on here. |

There are a couple of groups on Facebook*; "Attleborough Recreation and Sports Forum" and "Attleborough Sports Forum". I'm guessing that the latter is the official site because some of the linked Groups for the "Attleborough Recreation and Sports Forum" are unusual bedfellows for a committee/group/society/forum promoting sports in a Town.**
There's an email address so I'll drop them a line and let you know if there's anywhere to find out about meetings, events etc.
10/06/08 UPDATE: The Facebook site will be updated with more information soon and there will be an AGM in September to which the public will be invited. Thanks to John at the Sports Forum for the information.

* I'll confess I'm a Facebook virgin (I know, I know! There are a few of us out there, you know! ...albeit octogenarians usually.) but I'm a tad confused on why an Attleborough group would be so full of members from London? Is there a Facebook instruction manual out there somewhere? What are these "Networks" they talk of? Why would I want to "write on the Wall"? I feel so old [sob]
** "Attleborough. What a S**thole, but it's home"***or "Attleborough Drunks Society". Fun and a laugh I'm sure but I think the Sports Forum have the right idea to distance themselves a little from those particular groups if they want to be taken seriously.
*** "Attleborough. What a S**thole, but it's home" seems to have a lot of people saying how glad they are that they escaped from Attleborough. Just a thought, because it is good to point out issues in a Town and ways to improve it but if their new home is so fantastic, how do they find the time to wax lyrical about the "bad old days" in Attleborough and foster the Norfolk stereotype by claiming we're all inbred, webbed fingers etc.. (Seriously, the “inbred” argument is used in pretty much every rural area in the Globe, do you really think you're being witty and original?) Surely they should all be out enjoying all that is great and good in their new location?! _________________ When you wish upon a falling star, your dreams can come true. Our Household Survey form from the Attleborough Sports Forum arrived yesterday afternoon and I note it has to be returned by tomorrow, Wednesday 13th August 2008.
There's another website now with minutes etc. and if you haven't had your Survey yet or want another copy, it's available online through that Attleborough Sports Portal so you can print it out and drop it in to the following locations in Attleborough:-
High School, Town Hall, Vinnies Gym or Sainsburys.
Nothing is mentioned on the form or the website but given the limited time, if you want to offer your opinion and haven't got time to drop it in to Town tomorrow, this is the last email address I have for them so if all else fails, why not send a copy to them. It's got to be worth a try to get your voice heard:-

Yes ours arrived yesterday too! It's rdiculous really, that's hardly any time to sort it out. Plus the font size on the form is tiny with the boxes too small to put the information in. It almost looks like it's been produced by someone who doesn't want the forms filled in rather than a group supposedly pushing for better facilities in town. Hopefully the on line form is better though.
This is the portal web address, although you can't fill the form in on line, you can only print it off from there.
